Why the wood?
THE WOOD ...
Wood, you all know its warmth, its beauty, its naturalness… ?
But did you know that wood can be compared to steel as resistance, to stone as longevity?
That its physical behavior is often superior as comparated to other materials? Moreover, apart from all others, wood permanently renews itself-our woods did not cease to grow for centuries!
Ecological, technological and beautiful, wood has no rival. It is the one that is constantly giving a human dimension to architecture.
Wood is the only material that relaxes, calms down, the only material that breathes.
Due to its aesthetic and mechanical qualities, wood integrates everywhere, whether it finds itself in the urban or rural surroundings.
Being lighter than the structures of brick and concrete, the wooden constructions adapt more easily to difficult grounds.
Wood is a noble and warm material. It is easy to work with and can give free wings to the most overflowing imagination.
It allows structural changes to improve the comfort (altering the interior walls, adding new elements of comfort, expanding the existing buildings, etc…).
The thermal behavior of wood is extraordinary:
Despite the preconceived idea, wood is one of the materials with the best resistance against fire. It does not increase the risk of a fire; on the contrary, it burns slowly without transmitting heat to the adjoining elements and without emitting toxic smoke.
Wooden houses are being manufactured much faster than the ones made of traditional masonry, as wet materials are not used.
They are also much healthier.
Wood breathes and, at the same time, responds to all exigencies of building materials: it emits neither gas or dust nor static electricity. It is an excellent thermal hygrometric regulator as well as a good phonic insulator.
